Chimp Haven 2nd Annual Earth Day Festival on April 20

Chimp Haven will host its Second Annual Earth Day Festival, held in conjunction with Chimpanzee Discovery Day, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday, April 20. Located 22 miles southwest of Shreveport, La., in the Eddie D. Jones Nature Park in Keithville, La., Chimp Haven serves as The National Chimpanzee Sanctuary. The annual Earth Day Festival includes opportunities to view resident chimpanzees, as well as food, art and exhibits by local environmental organizations, businesses and artisans. Admission to the festival is free.

5 horses up for auction by Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office

Five horses, picked up by Caddo Parish deputies, are up for auction by the sheriff's office.

The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office will accept bids from 9 a.m. to noon, Friday, March 8, at the sheriff’s substation at 4910 North Market.

Up for sale are: an Appaloosa gelding picked up off Alma Street in Shreveport; a chestnut gelding picked up off Ridgehaven in Caddo Parish; a paint stud picked up off Jefferson-Paige Road in Caddo Parish; a paint mare picked up off Line Avenue in Shreveport; and a bay mare picked up off Colquitt Road in Caddo Parish.

Chimp Haven giving a behind-the-scene tour of sanctuary

Chimp Haven will host its first Fall Festival from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 20 at its habitat in Keithville. Along with a chance to watch the chimpanzees, there will also be a straw maze, a pick-your-own pumkin patch, pumpkin carving contest and a behind-the-scene hayride tour.
