The Mardi Gras Krewe of Aesclepius and Raising Cane’s at Pierre Bossier Mall will be hosting a Mardi Gras Bead Recycling Drive.

The drive is scheduled for Saturday, May 12 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Utility to cut water to mobile home park during overnight hours

The high temperatures and extended drought hitting the area has prompted one water system to take drastic measures to conserve its supply.

The Eagle Water System says beginning Tuesday night, it will start turning off the water to the Springlake Mobile Home Park between the hours of 11:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. The water cutoff will last until further notice.

Blanchard Utilities asking folks to conserve water

Because of the lack of rainfall in the area, Blanchard Utilities is asking customers to follow a limited schedule when watering their lawns. Customers who address ends in an even number should only water on Tuesdays, Thursdays & Saturdays. Odd-numbered addresses should only water on Mondays, Wednesday's & Fridays. Oil City asking folks to conserve water

The town of Oil City is asking its residents to not water their lawns and conserve as much water as possible. The town says it's been working on a number of leaks inside and outside the city. As of now the town is also under a boil advisory until further notice. The town is also asking residents to call them at 995-6681 if they notice any standing water on the road or ground, since this may be a sign of a water leak.

Accident knocks out phone service to part of Caddo Parish

Phone service in the Hosston area of Caddo Parish will be out until 5 or 6 p.m. Monday evening because of a traffic accident. Authorities say an 18-wheeler tore down power lines and a cell tower at Hwy. 2 and Hwy. 71 near Myra, LA. Everyone in the area including Fire District #8 has no phone service.  This will probably affect resident's ability to call 911. It's recommended folks try to use their cellphones to call 911 if needed.

Caddo Sheriff's Office to sell unclaimed animals

Six donkeys and two horses are on the auction block at the Caddo Sheriff's Office after being unclaimed by their owners. The Sheriff's Office will accept sealed bids on the animals from 8 a.m. until noon Friday, July 15, at the 4910 North Market Street substation.
