The closing credits for the new movie "The Rise of the Planet of the Apes," which opens in theatres this Friday, August 5th, will acknowledge the contributions of none other than Chimp Haven’s chimpanzees—many of whom had speaking roles in the production.

Because all of the apes in the movie are created through CGI (computer generated image) technology—the same process that was used in the blockbuster movie, Avatar—the production team had to capture ape vocalizations to correspond with the movie’s simian characters.
